Our Story

The story of El Castillo AlMálaga is a tale of love and dedication, reminiscent of Shah Jahān and the Taj Mahal. In 1950, Jose Antonio Vasquez purchased a plot of land on the outskirts of Malaga, then considered distant countryside, with the intention of building his dream house for his beloved Maria. Maria was a tried and true city girl and despite her reluctance to leave the town center, Pedro was determined to show her the beauty of a tranquil life surrounded by mountains and sea. With the help of his brothers, Jose Antonio meticulously constructed a castle fit for his queen, using only the finest materials, including marble walls, exquisite wood banisters, and balconies that embraced the natural beauty of the surroundings. The chapel, built to honor their Catholic heritage, provided Maria with a place to worship without the need to journey into town daily.

Tragically, Jose Antonio passed away before his dream was fully realized, leaving Maria with bittersweet memories of his efforts. The castle has since been transformed into a venue for others to enjoy, serving as a picturesque setting for weddings, communions, and a place for all religions, cultures and visitors to Malaga. It stands as a testament to Jose Antonio’s love and craftsmanship, offering a place for all to cherish and celebrate.

Today the castle and land are classified in the suburb of Limonar, one of Malaga’s most prestigious neighbourhoods.
